What a break!!!! (part two)

Arrived at Melbourne Tullamarine airport from KL late evening on the 7th July 2006 together with Ian, basically MEL is just another aussie airport, where every passengers need to pass by their slow immigration and quarantine. The queue for both of the immigration and quarantine is worse than the international airport back in Perth. At lease for now im glad for the shorter queue back in Perth but still have to wait for quite long. Looking at the time, 6pm outside Melbourne airport, not forgetting I got an appointment with Phin at 6 in her hotel at Crown. I manage to get to her at 7.15pm after checking in my hotel. Manage to catch up for 15 minutes before she leave the hotel with her “Singapore Girls” colleague to the airport for a flight.

Later on we met evan and aik who came to melbourne a week earlier for a drink. clubs in melbourne are pretty same to those back in KL. The music and the crowd (except no ah bengs n ah lians) are similar to those in Velvet or poppy. The best thing about it, we can buy bottles of alcohol in the club n u get vip seats!!! (This will never happen in perth clubs) I felt as if I am back clubing at P.Ramlee street downtown KL….lol.. everlyn flew in from perth to join us the next morning.

flooding..... part of malaysian life...

This happens to klang every time when it rains. klang is a huge town, with dozen of southern suburbs affected, eg Bayu Perdana, Bukit Tinggi, Chi Leung, botanic, sentosa, port klang town center n more while the northern part are pretty safe with floods except when it rain cats n dogs for the whole day. Well, I stay at the safer part of the town, so no complains. But I just wonder why the local councils did not take any initiative to prevent this to happen. 20 years ago flooding is the minor problem for some klang residents, now its getting worse. I visited my friends at her shop at Bayu Perdana, it rained but not tat heavy. 30 minutes later, water rose up and almost floods into the shop. She complained to me about it and worried about her shop when it rains. The worse case, her shop was flooded 2-3 times a week. Cleaning it is not a problem but carpet and part of their furniture was destroyed. Cars parked beside the road were flooded as well. Another friend of mine complained to me tat his house experience the same thing ever since he moved in 10 years ago…

Everywhere flood…. Blame who, Government, Developers, local councils or ourselves?

To your surprise, the civil engineering work for one of the affected suburb are design n drawn by my dad. Its pretty amazing tat my dad was involved in designing a popular suburb in klang, (not trying to promote or whatsoever), but I just wonder who is the person responsible for the flooding? My dad??? Nah… not him. I told him the situation once, and he did say tat the problem accrued ever since the project completed. It seems there are a few points that contribute to the flooding of that place: construction site around the suburb, drainage and irresponsible residents who thinks tat the drain can flush their rubbish away. Maybe at this moment, fingers are now pointing at MPK (Klang Municipal Council) for not having their rubbish taken every three times a week, “so tat the residents have to “buang” rubbish into the longkang,” which indirectly contribute to the flood.

a short rain cause a small flood, imagine a storm for few hours

Sungai Pinang, Klang state assemblyman Mr Teng http://www.klang1.com/, always takes note on flooding event in klang and organized complain to local council and developers on behalf of the residents (even thou the area are not in his constituency), but nothing much have been done by the local council and developers to prevent the flood after all the complain. Maybe it just because, Mr. Teng is from the opposition party.

I wonder anyone knows tat the state Selangor has been declared as a developed state last year, so call the first and only developed state in Malaysia. This is totally nuisance 2 me, just imagine a developed state (negeri maju) where flooding is a normal thing. There are few important roads that always affected; Federal Highway between Subang Jaya and Shah Alam and the NKVE highway at Bukit Jelutong inter-change between Shah Alam and Klang. (Will flooded after heavy rains without fail). The worse downpour caused 12-hour of closure of the 2 major and important highways in malaysia on Feb 26, 2006. Vehicle stuck in jam for hours. And on tat morning, I almost miss my flight back to Perth. Luckily we notice the jam from far and have a detour to the airport. There’s once, where my brother stuck in the jam for 5 hours, (and he manage to sleep in the car). How can this be a developed state???

At this moment I have no idea whether the government has taken any step to prevent this from happening. But I know they are very slow in doing this kinda job which involves the local communities or residents. They are more into wasting tax payer money for their ambitious project of building useless and all the ‘est’ (eg: highest, biggest, longest n etc) buildings to show the world or other states tat MALAYSIA BOLEH! Or SELANGOR BOLEH!
